Cola BBQ Sauce

This cola BBQ sauce turns a few pantry bottles into a glossy glaze in about 25 minutes. The cola does the work of sugar and gentle spice, while soy sauce and Worcestershire add savory depth and cider vinegar keeps the sweetness in check. Hot sauce is left to your taste, so you control the heat. Brush it on ribs or chicken, and keep leftovers chilled for up to a week.

Instructions

Pour the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, cola, soy sauce and cider vinegar into a large pot, then add hot sauce to your taste. Stir everything together so the ketchup loosens into the liquid.

Set the pot over high heat and bring the mixture to a boil.

Keep it cooking over high heat for 10 minutes, stirring now and then so it does not catch on the bottom. The sauce is ready when it has reduced and looks glossy.

Let the sauce cool, then pour it into a nonreactive container. Store it in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
