Easy Orange Smoothie

This orange smoothie tastes like a creamsicle in a glass, and it takes one blender and no fresh fruit. A can of frozen orange juice gives concentrated citrus flavor and chills the drink at the same time, while skim milk and a teaspoon of vanilla soften the acidity into something creamy. Crushed ice makes the texture smooth rather than gritty. It is a quick fix for a hot afternoon.

Instructions

Crush the ice cubes so the blender does not have to fight whole cubes, then tip them into the blender jar.

Add the frozen orange juice straight from the can, along with the skim milk, water, vanilla extract and sugar.

Put the lid on and blend until the mixture is completely smooth, with no ice chips or lumps of frozen juice left. If any bits cling to the sides, stop and stir them down before blending again.

Pour into glasses and drink right away, while it is still cold and thick.
