Garlic Salt
Garlic salt is a three-to-one blend of fine salt and garlic powder that takes a minute to make at home. Mixing your own lets you set the ratio to suit your cooking instead of accepting whatever the jar offers. Fine salt matters here, because it clings to the powder and blends evenly. Keep it by the stove for garlic bread, french fries, baked potatoes, hamburgers and chicken.
Instructions
Pick any measure to serve as your volume, such as a spoon or a small cup, and use the same one for both ingredients.
Measure one volume of garlic powder and three volumes of fine salt into a bowl or a clean jar.
Stir or shake the two together until the mixture looks evenly pale, with no streaks of garlic powder left.
Taste a pinch. For a stronger garlic flavor add a little more garlic powder, and for a saltier mix add a little more salt, since changing the ratio shifts the taste slightly.
Make it personal.
