Green Bean Casserole
Green bean casserole is the creamy, crunch-topped side that shows up on many American Thanksgiving tables. The Campbell Soup Company came up with it in 1955, and it still relies on a can of cream of mushroom soup and a handful of pantry staples. A little soy sauce deepens the savory base, and the onions go on in two stages so the topping stays crisp.
Instructions
Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a 3-quart casserole dish, combine the green beans, milk, pepper, soup and soy sauce. Add half of the French fried onions and stir until everything is evenly coated.
Bake until the casserole is hot, about 25 minutes.
Scatter the remaining French fried onions over the top. Return the dish to the oven for another 5 minutes, then serve.
Make it personal.
