Hot Cocoa
This hot cocoa gets its flavor from malted chocolate mix, with a small spoonful of plain cocoa powder added to deepen the chocolate. The one technique worth knowing is pounding the dry powders fine with a spoon before they meet the water, which helps them dissolve with less stirring. It takes a few minutes and one cup, and whipped cream and cinnamon are optional finishes.
Instructions
Put the malted chocolate mix and the cocoa powder together in a bowl or a lidded container, and stir them until they are evenly combined.
Press and pound the dry mix with the back of a spoon until it is very fine. A finer powder dissolves faster, so you will not need to stir as long later.
Shake the mix for about 10 seconds so the malt and cocoa are fully blended.
Pour the powder into the hot water and stir well until no dry specks or lumps remain and the drink looks smooth and evenly brown.
If you like, top the cocoa with whipped cream and sprinkle it with cinnamon or chocolate powder. Serve it while it is still hot.
Make it personal.
