Italian Tomato Sauce
A thick Italian-style tomato sauce built from pantry staples, with no cooking needed to get it started. Tomato paste gives a dense, concentrated base, and a trio of dried basil, oregano and Italian seasoning supplies the herb backbone. The garlic is flexible, from two cloves to four, so you decide how sharp it gets. Spread it on pizza dough or thin it down for pasta.
Instructions
Measure the tomato paste into a large mixing bowl. Scrape the bowl clean of nothing yet, simply set it where you can stir it easily.
Add the salt, black pepper, dried basil, dried oregano and Italian seasoning to the paste.
Stir in the minced garlic, using two cloves for a mild sauce and up to four for a sharper one.
Mix thoroughly until the herbs and seasonings are evenly spread and no streaks of plain paste remain. Taste and adjust the salt or garlic if you like.
Make it personal.
