Microwave Oat Porridge
Microwave oat porridge is a one-bowl breakfast that needs only three pantry items and a few minutes. Oat flakes soften quickly in hot water, so there is no pot to watch and no pan to scrub afterward. The pinch of salt matters, because it brings out the nutty, toasted taste of the oats. It makes a single serving, which suits a rushed weekday morning.
Instructions
Put the water, oat flakes and salt in a microwave-safe bowl and stir them together. Choose a bowl with plenty of headroom, since the porridge will rise as it heats.
Cook the bowl in the microwave on high power for 2 to 3 minutes, until the water has been absorbed and the oats look swollen and soft.
Stir the porridge well, then serve it right away while it is hot and creamy.
