No-Bake Chocolate Pie

This old Dutch pie needs no oven, only a saucepan, a dish and some patience in the fridge. Melted butter, sugar and cocoa make a dense chocolate spread that soaks into coffee-dipped marie biscuits and sets into firm layers. The contributor calls it very powerful, and the amounts are meant to be adjusted. Add milk for a softer slice, or leave it out for a firmer one.

Instructions

Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat, then stir in the sugar until it is mixed through.

Add the cocoa and the milk, if you are using it, and stir until you have a smooth chocolate mixture. Keep in mind that the milk makes the finished pie less firm.

Dip each biscuit briefly in cold black coffee, or another flavoring you like, and lay them in the bottom of your dish in a single layer. Spread some of the chocolate mixture over the biscuits.

Repeat the layers of dipped biscuits and chocolate mixture until both are used up. If you want more than two layers of biscuits, you will need more butter, with the cocoa and sugar increased to match.

Scatter chocolate sprinkles over the top. Chill the pie in the fridge until it is completely set, then slice and serve.
