Bourbon Apples
Bourbon Apples is a quick skillet dish of sautéed apple slices finished in a boozy, spiced glaze. Honeycrisp apples are a smart pick because their firm flesh browns in the butter and sugar without collapsing. Freshly ground allspice, cloves, and cinnamon give the coating real warmth, and deglazing with bourbon turns the caramelized bits in the pan into the sauce. The whole thing cooks in one small pan.
Instructions
Put the sliced apple in a bowl and toss it with the melted butter and lemon juice until every slice is coated.
Mix the sugar with the allspice, ground cloves, and cinnamon. Sprinkle the spiced sugar over the apples and toss again so the slices are evenly covered.
Heat a small stainless steel skillet over medium high heat. Add the apples and sauté them until they are lightly browned.
Pour the bourbon into the pan to deglaze, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom. Bring it to a boil and cook, stirring from time to time, until a fork slides easily into the apple slices.
Serve the apples immediately while they are hot.
