Easy Chili
This chili takes four ingredients and one pot, which makes it a practical weeknight dinner. Canned kidney beans and crushed tomatoes form the base, and pre-cooked ground beef or turkey adds body. Vegetarian ground substitute works just as well, and chili-flavored beans can stand in for the powder. Chili began in Texas in the 1800s, and this version keeps the idea simple, with crackers and cheese on top.
Instructions
Put the kidney beans, crushed tomatoes, cooked ground meat or meat substitute, and chili powder into a pot. If you are using chili-flavored kidney beans, you can leave out the chili powder.
Place the pot over medium heat and cook for 15 minutes.
Taste a kidney bean to check the flavor. The chili is done when the beans taste seasoned and heated through.
Serve hot with crackers, shredded cheese, and any spices you like to add at the table.
