Loco moco is a Hawaiian plate of rice, a hamburger patty, a fried egg and gravy, stacked in that order. The dish is cheap and filling, and it works because of the runny yolk, which mixes with the gravy and soaks into the rice below. You only need four components and one pan, so it makes an easy hearty meal, and you can scale the rice to your appetite.

Instructions

Fry the eggs sunny side up, so the whites are set and the yolks stay soft and runny.

Cook the hamburger patty in a pan to whatever doneness you like.

Steam the rice, using half a cup to a full cup of uncooked rice depending on how big a plate you want. Warm the gravy in a small pot until it is hot.

Spoon the hot rice onto a plate to make the base, then set the hamburger patty on top of the rice.

Lay the fried eggs on top of the patty, then pour the hot gravy over everything so it runs down into the rice.
