Party Mix

This party mix coats three kinds of cereal squares, nuts, pretzels and bagel chips in a savory butter seasoned with Worcestershire sauce, garlic and onion. The slow bake at 250°F dries everything out so each piece stays crisp, and stirring every 15 minutes keeps the coating even. A microwave version takes far less time. It keeps well in a sealed container, and you can adjust the seasonings to taste.

Instructions

For the oven method, heat the oven to 250°F (120°C). Put the butter in a large, ungreased roasting pan and let it melt in the oven as it heats.

Stir the Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, garlic powder and onion powder into the melted butter. Gradually add the cereals, nuts, pretzels and bagel chips, stirring until everything is evenly coated.

Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread the mix on paper towels and let it cool for about 15 minutes.

For the microwave method, put the butter in a large microwavable bowl and microwave it uncovered on high for about 40 seconds, until melted. Stir in the seasonings, then gradually stir in the remaining ingredients until evenly coated.

Microwave uncovered on high for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring thoroughly every 2 minutes. Spread on paper towels to cool.

Once the mix is completely cool, store it in an airtight container.
