Pasta with hot dogs is a one-dish bake that turns sliced sausages, pasta and a simple egg and milk custard into a sliceable supper. The custard sets around the pasta as it bakes, so the dish holds together on the plate. Leek and red bell pepper add some sweetness and color against the salty hot dogs, and the corn is optional if you prefer it leaner. It uses ordinary pantry and fridge staples.

Instructions

Cook the pasta in boiling water following the directions on the package, then drain it well. If you use fresh pasta, double the amount of pasta.

Tip the drained pasta into a baking dish and add the chopped hot dogs, leek, red pepper and the corn, if you are using it. Stir briefly so the pieces are spread evenly through the dish.

Whisk the eggs and milk together in a bowl until fully blended. Season with the salt and black pepper, adjusting to your taste.

Pour the egg mixture evenly over the pasta and vegetables. Bake in an oven set between 200 and 225°C for 25 to 35 minutes, until the egg has set through and the top is lightly browned.
