Pizza Rollups
Pizza rollups turn a tube of croissant dough into a hand-held snack that tastes like a pepperoni pizza. Pinching two dough triangles into a rectangle gives you a sheet big enough to hold a layer of pepperoni and provolone, and the croissant dough bakes up flaky around the filling. The seasoning is up to you, and fennel or anise adds a sausage-like note. They need only four ingredients and about 40 minutes.
Instructions
Heat the oven to 350°F. Leave the cookie sheet ungreased.
Unroll the croissant dough and take two of the triangles. Lay them on the cookie sheet pointing in opposite directions so they form a rectangle, and pinch the touching edges together to seal the seam. Repeat with the remaining dough to make a second rectangle.
Arrange 6 slices of pepperoni over each dough rectangle. Sprinkle on the pizza spices you like, such as basil, oregano, garlic, fennel or anise.
Lay a slice of provolone over the pepperoni on each rectangle. Roll each rectangle up into a tube.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until the dough is cooked through and golden.
