Steamed Rice

Steamed rice is a plain pot of grains that cooks in 12 minutes once the water boils, with no rice cooker or microwave. The method rests on one rule: use twice as much water as rice by volume, so one cup of rice takes two cups of water and two cups takes four. That ratio scales up or down easily. One cup of dry rice feeds about three adults.
Instructions
Rinse the rice first if you like. This step is optional.
Put the rice in a deep saucepan that has a lid. Add the water, and stir in the salt if you are using it.
Set the pan over high heat and bring it to a boil, then give it a stir.
Turn the heat down to low and put the lid on. Cook for 12 minutes.
Take off the lid and serve the rice.
Make it personal.
