Taco Casserole
Taco Casserole turns the usual taco fillings into a single baked dish that feeds six from one skillet and one casserole dish. The seasoning is generous, with chili powder and garlic powder added to the packet, so the beef tastes properly spiced. Torn tortilla pieces stir through the meat and cheese, soaking up the tomato sauce and giving the bake some body. It takes about half an hour in total.
Instructions
Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain off the fat, then return the meat to the skillet.
Keep the skillet on medium heat and stir in the taco seasoning, chili powder, garlic powder and tomato sauce until the beef is evenly coated.
Simmer the mixture for 5 minutes, stirring now and then, so the flavors blend and the sauce thickens slightly.
Combine the seasoned beef, the tortilla bits and the shredded cheese in a casserole dish and mix until evenly distributed.
Bake in a 375°F (190°C) oven for 20 minutes. Serve hot.
