Hamburger Fried Rice
Hamburger Fried Rice turns a pack of ground beef and leftover rice into a full meal in half an hour. The dish starts with sliced garlic, red onion, fresh ginger and minced chillies fried in very hot oil, which gives the beef a sharp, fragrant base before the rice goes in. Celery adds crunch, and black soy sauce gives the grains a deep, dark colour. It feeds three.
Instructions
Heat the canola oil in a non-stick frying pan until it is very hot. Add the garlic, red onion, ginger and red chillies, and stir every 20 seconds until the pan smells fragrant.
Add the diced hamburger meat and cook, breaking up the pieces as needed, until the meat is browned and cooked through.
Stir in the celery and scallion, then add the cooked rice, salt, black pepper and black soy sauce. Cook, stirring, until everything is evenly coloured and the rice is heated through.
Serve the rice hot, straight from the pan.
