Kid-Friendly Pasta
Kid-Friendly Pasta is a one-pot spaghetti dish with carrots and green beans that children can help make and happily eat. The vegetables cook in the same water as the whole-wheat noodles, so there is only one pot to watch and one drain at the end. Cutting the carrots into thin strips lets them soften at the same pace as the spaghetti. A small amount of tomato sauce is enough to bind it together.
Instructions
Bring a pot of water to a boil. An adult should supervise any child who is helping at the stove.
Add the spaghetti and the carrot strips to the boiling water and cook them together for 4 minutes.
Add the green beans to the same pot and cook for another 4 minutes, until the pasta is tender and the vegetables are softened but still bright.
While the pasta cooks, warm the tomato sauce in a small pan or in the microwave until it is hot.
Drain the spaghetti and vegetables well, then toss them with the heated sauce until everything is coated.
Taste, and add a pinch of salt if it needs it. Serve right away.
Make it personal.
