Müsli
Homemade müsli is a dry German-style cereal mix of oats, oat bran, dried fruit, nuts and seeds that you stir together once and eat for weeks. This version uses no sweetener, so the sweetness comes from currants, golden raisins, mango, apple and apricot. Coconut, almonds, cashews and two kinds of seeds add crunch. Because nothing is cooked, you control every proportion, and the batch keeps a month in a sealed container.
Instructions
Measure the rolled oats, oat bran and unsweetened coconut into a large mixing bowl.
Add the currants, golden raisins, and the chopped mangoes, apples and apricots, breaking up any pieces that stick together.
Add the chopped almonds and cashews, the pumpkin seeds and the shelled sunflower seeds.
Stir everything thoroughly with a large spoon or your hands until the fruit, nuts and seeds are spread evenly through the oats, with no pockets of any one ingredient.
Transfer the mix to an airtight container. It keeps for up to a month.
To serve, spoon some into a bowl and top with milk, yogurt, honey or berries.
