Fruity Cheese Dogs

Fruity Cheese Dogs pair split hot dogs with melted cheese and a scatter of crushed Froot Loops, and the whole thing takes under ten minutes. The cheese matters: pick one that melts cleanly and is not too creamy, such as mozzarella, cheddar or Swiss, so it coats the sausage instead of turning greasy. The cereal adds a sweet, brittle crunch against the salty cheese. It is a strange snack, and a quick one to try.

Instructions

Cook the hot dogs in whatever way suits you. The original used a pan on the stove, but a toaster oven works too.

When the hot dogs have cooked through and their skins have split, take them off the heat and set them on a serving plate.

Melt the cheese in the oven or the microwave, with the microwave giving the best result. Stir it if needed until it is smooth and pourable.

Pour the melted cheese over the hot dogs. Sprinkle the crushed cereal on top while the cheese is still soft, then leave everything to cool a little before eating.

Place the hot dogs close together on the plate so any stray cereal lands between them instead of sliding off.
