Jam Sandwich

A jam sandwich is two slices of bread and a spread of fruit preserve, ready in five minutes or less. Its strength is flexibility, since any jam works, from sharp apricot to sweet strawberry or dark blackcurrant. Toast the bread if you want a crisp contrast to the soft fruit. It needs no stove and no special tools, which makes it a dependable snack for a lunchbox, a picnic, or a quick bite when the cupboard is nearly bare.
Instructions
Lay one slice of bread flat on a plate or board. If you prefer a crisp base, toast both slices first and let them cool for a moment so the jam does not run.
Spoon the jam onto the slice and spread it across the surface with the back of the spoon or a knife. Work it out toward the edges so every bite has some.
Place the second slice of bread on top, with its bottom side facing down onto the jam. Press gently to seal, then eat it whole or cut it in half.
