Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich

A peanut butter and jelly sandwich takes a few minutes and three ingredients, which is a large part of why it is so common in American kitchens. The peanut butter gives richness and salt, while the jelly adds sweetness and a little fruit acidity. Spreading both right to the crust keeps every bite balanced. It is easy to adapt with banana slices, honey, or toasted bread.
Instructions
Lay the two slices of bread flat on a board or plate. Use a butter knife to spread an even layer of peanut butter over one side of each slice, going all the way to the edges.
Spread an even layer of jelly or jam over the peanut butter on each slice. The bread should be covered with no bare patches showing.
Place one slice on a plate with the jelly facing up. Set the second slice on top with its jelly side down, so the two spreads meet in the middle and the sandwich is ready to eat.
